The Technical Chamber of Foreign Trade has endorsed the government of Acre's proposal to bolster the interoceanic corridor agenda.

The Technical Chamber of Foreign Trade of the Business Forum for Development and Innovation of the State of Acre held its ordinary meeting on Wednesday morning, the 13th, at the Legislative Assembly (Aleac) in Rio Branco. During the meeting, the agenda to strengthen the interoceanic corridor and Acre's trade balance, presented by the State government through the State Secretariat for Industry, Science, and Technology (Seict) and the Acre Business Agency (Anac), was approved.

Assurbanípal Mesquita, the head of Seict and coordinator of the Foreign Trade CT, outlined the objectives of the chamber, which include formulating policies to attract foreign investments, addressing tariff and non-tariff issues, financing exports, and enhancing the productivity and competitiveness of Acre companies in the international market.

Mesquita emphasized the significance of integrating the Pacific Ocean with Brazil, particularly Acre, which boasts an established export and import corridor. He highlighted Acre's role as the first Atlantic-Pacific multimodal axis in South America, designed to facilitate South American integration, tourism, bilateral trade between Brazil and Peru, and access for Brazilian products to the Pacific.

Following the approval of the agenda, the CT began its operations, with a focus on promoting business activities along the interoceanic corridor. Governor Gladson Cameli's direct involvement was noted, along with support from various sectors, including the Acre parliament and Deputy Luiz Gonzaga.

Deputy Gonzaga highlighted the state's trade surplus in the first two months of the year, underscoring the importance of institutions promoting the interoceanic corridor. He stressed the need for strategic planning to strengthen trade ties with Peru and Bolivia and to address logistical challenges.

Deputy Afonso Fernandes, president of the Special International Commission, emphasized the role of bilateral relationships in reducing unemployment rates in Acre. He cited Dom Porquito as a prime example and outlined the commission's objectives to increase the number of export-capable companies, thereby creating more job opportunities.

Waleska Bezerra, president of Anac, emphasized partnerships with the federal government and ApexBrasil to enhance the competitiveness of Acre's products. She commended the Technical Chamber for its support in fostering a conducive business environment that generates employment and income.

Representatives from various sectors, including agriculture, ZPE, Mapa, Suframa, and the Government Secretariat, also participated in the meeting, underscoring the collaborative efforts to advance Acre's economic development agenda.
