The 2024/25 soybean planting season has begun in Brazil, but progress remains slow, limited to small areas in Paraná and Mato Grosso due to low soil moisture and high temperatures. As of Thursday (12), only 0.06% of the country’s estimated planting area had been sown, compared to 0.15% at the same time last year, according to data from AgRural.
In Paraná, light rain forecasts encouraged some farmers to begin planting in certain western fields, but most opted to wait for more favorable conditions. In Mato Grosso, the situation is even more critical, with no rainfall expected this week.
