Peanut Harvest Expected to Be Larger, but Lack of Rain Frustrates Producers

peanut

With the peanut harvest nearing its final stage in São Paulo, Brazil's largest producing state, accounting for about 90% of total production, farmers are feeling frustrated. The lack of rain has affected crop productivity, reducing the volume of the oilseed harvest.

The National Supply Company (Conab) released new projections for the 2023/24 harvest, confirming the concerns of producers interviewed by Globo Rural in Itajubá (SP). Despite the expected volume being 3.8% higher than the previous cycle (equivalent to 927 thousand tons), the overall sentiment is one of disappointment given the initial expectations.
