Advance harvest and low oilseed prices are among the factors that boosted the result.
Soybean crushing in January was a record for the month in Mato Grosso. 936,744 thousand tons of grain were processed. The volume represents an increase of 10.74% compared to the same time last year, while compared to the month of December, it was 2.41%.
The scenario for the observed result, according to the Mato Grosso Institute of Agricultural Economics (Imea), was influenced by several factors. Among them, the greater availability of soybeans, as the harvest in the state started earlier, the opening of new industries, and the drop in the price of soybeans.
Regarding the gross crushing margin, the indicator shows an increase of 38.60% compared to December, and was estimated at R$521.67 per ton.
Still according to Imea, despite the drop in the prices of soybean meal and oil in January, the value of soybeans saw a greater devaluation compared to by-products. This fact led to an increase in the crushing margin.
Soybeans on the available market ended the month of January priced at an average of R$95.88 per 60-kilo bag.
“It is important to highlight that in the first fortnight of February, soybean grain values continued with a downward trend, which could influence the gross margin and the crushing rate this month in the state,” highlights the Institute.
