Activity at the port of Rosario is returning to normal on Tuesday, after the union of oilseed workers SOEA ended a strike against the bill promoted by President Javier Milei.
SOEA suspended the strike after the Argentine Chamber of Deputies approved the bill, which now must be reviewed by the Senate.
"We are already suspending the strike. We are doing it slowly," Daniel Succi, general secretary of the oil workers' union in northern Rosario, SOEA, told Reuters.
"Next week, we will convene a meeting with delegates to see how we will proceed," he added, explaining that they are preparing "for when they seek the other 50% approval (in the Senate)."
SOEA has members in cities such as Puerto General San Martín, Timbúes, and San Lorenzo - approximately 50 kilometers north of Rosario - an agro-industrial area that houses most of the country's soy processing factories and agro-port terminals. Meanwhile, a source from the Port Chamber said that "activity is returning to normal at the ports."
"The action has been suspended, and it's just a matter of a few hours for everything to return to normal," they added.
Argentina is one of the world's largest exporters of soybean oil and meal and the third-largest exporter of corn.
