Soybean exports from Brazil have experienced a reduction in pace compared to the beginning of March, though they still demonstrate slight growth compared to March 2023, according to data from the Secretariat of Foreign Trade (Secex) released on Monday. Until the third week of the month, soybean exports showed a growth rate of 0.7% compared to the same period last year. However, by the end of last week, this growth had increased to 5.2%. Brazilian soybean exports for March amounted to 580 thousand tons per day, compared to 575.7 thousand tons per day in March of the previous year. By March 15th, Brazil had already exported 6.38 million tons of soybeans, whereas the total for March last year was 13.2 million tons, though Secex does not provide comparable data for the same week in the previous year.
Coffee exports have seen a significant increase, with a daily average growth of 53.7% compared to March last year, reaching 10.9 thousand tons per day. Similarly, cotton exports have surpassed last year's volume for the same month, totaling 125 thousand tons, with a daily average increase of over 240%. Wheat shipments are also expected to exceed those of March last year, with a total of 561.7 thousand tons by mid-month, compared to 607.9 thousand tons for the entire month of March last year.
Likewise, sugar exports are anticipated to surpass last year's figures, with exports already recorded at 1.58 million tons compared to 1.8 million tons in March 2023. The increase in sugar exports, based on the daily average, is reported to be more than 80%, according to Secex.
