In the first 120 days of the year, there were 31 new openings in world trade.
The first quarter of 2024 will be remembered as the most productive in history in terms of opening international markets for Brazilian agribusiness. Between January and April, 31 new opportunities for external sales of Brazilian agribusiness products were established in 19 different countries.
March led the period with ten new openings in seven countries, followed by January, which registered nine markets in five countries. February and April complete the list, with openings in seven and five markets, distributed across six and three countries, respectively. Compared to the numbers from the historical series quadrimester, only in 2021 did it come close to what was achieved this year when 27 commercial expansions were recorded in 15 countries.
The history of new market openings includes not only the export of already consolidated products, such as meats and soybeans, but also a variety of other agricultural items. Among them are fish, seeds, gelatin and collagen, eggs, products derived from animal recycling, powdered açaí, green coffee, as well as embryos and semen.
These expansions bring more opportunities to our producers, generate more employment and income in the interior of the country, and prove the effectiveness of our sanitary system. The sanitary concessions obtained from each country are a direct result of the partnership between the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE). The joint effort involves the elaboration of technical information and the conduct of international negotiations that result in agreements on sanitary and phytosanitary requirements, allowing the commercialization of agricultural products and strengthening partnerships.
