The latest analysis of the Edenred Repom Freight Index (IFR) revealed that the average freight price per kilometer rose slightly in May, ending the month at R$ 6.20, an increase of nearly 0.5% compared to April. This is the first increase recorded since January this year, when the freight price rose by 2% compared to December 2023.

The slight increase in the average freight price per kilometer in May, compared to April, was mitigated by the stable average price of diesel. According to the Edenred Ticket Log Price Index (IPTL), the average price of regular diesel closed in May at R$ 5.99 per liter, while S-10 diesel was R$ 6.09, both stable compared to April.

Edenred Repom stated that the decline in grain production and soybean exports was offset by the demands of the industrial and construction sectors, particularly related to cement. "As we approach the end of the first half of the year, the forecast for the coming months is for freight prices to remain stable, not only due to fuel price behavior but also due to the performance of some economic sectors. Another factor that could influence this trend is the impact of the floods in Rio Grande do Sul, which still cause logistical problems for cargo flow," commented Vinicios Fernandes, director of Edenred Repom.

The IFR is an index of the average freight price and its composition, based on 8 million annual freight and toll voucher transactions managed by Edenred Repom. Edenred Repom, a brand of the Mobility business line of Edenred Brazil, has been specializing in the management and payment of expenses for the road freight transport market for 30 years, leading the segment in freight and toll voucher payments with 8 million annual transactions and over 1 million truck drivers served across Brazil.
