Brazilian exports through the Amazon Arc ports reached 66.5 million tons of cargo in the first four months of 2024. These figures are from the Aquaviário Statistical Panel of the National Agency for Waterway Transportation (Antaq), consolidated in June.

Out of the total, 46 million tons were iron ore, 13 million tons were soybeans, and 2 million tons were corn exported through the Amazon Arc ports. This total represents a 5.3% increase compared to the same period last year, when 63 million tons were transported from January to April 2023.

According to the Association of Port Terminals and Cargo Transshipment Stations of the Amazon Basin (AMPORT), these numbers confirm the growth the sector has seen over the past decade. "The Northern Arc ports have shown consistent growth in recent years. Our region has a natural vocation, with navigable rivers, and we see our exports increasing year by year. We are competitive from a logistics standpoint and have the expertise to offer more economical and viable solutions for our clients."

Bulk Exports

The sector has also been excelling in bulk exports, particularly corn and soybeans. "Today, we have an installed capacity of 52 million tons, with investments underway for an additional 48 million tons of bulk. This means we will have a capacity to ship around 100 million tons of grains over the next five years," explains the executive.

In the first quarter of the year alone, according to a report by the National Supply Company (CONAB), 43.3% of the country's corn exports were shipped through the Amazon Arc ports. "This showcases our capability. We are prepared and continuously modernizing to keep growing competitively," concludes Acatauassú.
