The Russian agricultural consultancy IKAR announced on Friday that it has raised its forecast for Russian grain exports in 2024 by 2.2%, bringing the total to 56.2 million metric tons.
The consultancy also increased its grain harvest estimate from 128 million to 129.5 million metric tons. The official forecast from Russia puts this year's harvest at approximately 132 million metric tons.
Extreme weather events, such as early spring frosts, floods, and summer heatwaves, have impacted this year's harvest outlook in some of Russia's main grain-producing regions.
Despite these challenges, the climate has accelerated the harvest campaign in many areas, with 40% of the grain fields already harvested and nearly 64 million metric tons collected, according to last week's data.
