Brazilian exports to the United States subject to surcharges fell 25.7% in September 2025 compared with the same month of 2024, a sharper drop than the overall average decline of 20.3%.
Products exempt from surcharges, by contrast, grew 12.3% in exported value, a result driven mainly by sales of petroleum and its derivatives.
The data comes from the Brazil-US Trade Monitor, prepared by the American Chamber of Commerce for Brazil (Amcham). According to Amcham, September marked the sharpest decline in bilateral trade so far.
